Sherburn Leisure Centre

Starting from Sherburn Leisure Centre, we will join the NCN 14 and cycle across to Haswell before joining the NCN 1 turning South towards Stockton. We will stop for an early lunch at Thorpe Thewles and then make our way west towards Newton Aycliffe. This stretch is on quiet roads and through the centre of Newton Aycliffee until we join the Bishop to Brandon Railway line at Bishop Auckland and head back north to Durham and then finish again at Sherburn Leisure Centre. This ride is a featured ride on the This is Durham website here: http://www.thisisdurham.com/things-to-do/the-south-durham-orbital-cycle-route-p671001 This will be our longest organised ride to date, so please ensure that you bring plenty of drink, snacks and layers of clothing as we all know the weather can be very changeable. Ideal for those who are comfortable with 30 mile plus rides, not recommended if not as there will be the usual hills to contend, not many opportunities for freewheeling! and a reasonable level of cycling fitness is expected. Please also bring sun block and a spare inner tube if you have one! I got a bit burnt on my recce this week. Fingers crossed for sunshine all the way again. We look forward to welcoming you along. Please let me know if you have any questions. Jacki 07795 390871
