Outside reception at Broomfields Leisure Centre Broomfields Road Appleton WA4 3AE

Leaving from Broomfields Leisure Centre we will join the canal towpath by the London Bridge Pub and take a slow and steady pedal along the Bridgewater Canal towards the stunning village of Lymm. Here we will stop for a short lunch break where you can visit one of the beautiful tea rooms, local pubs or visit one of the many shops for some delicious treats. Of course you can bring your own lunch and take a pew on the canal side and watch the boats go by. After our break we will take a slow and steady ride back alongside the Cyclists Favourite- Trans Pennine Trail along the NCN62 route back towards our starting point. The canal tow path is narrow in parts and in the main is grass and uneven surfaced so road bikes are not recommended. We will discuss canal towpath etiquette at the start of the ride. If the weather is poor or we have some more unconfident riders we may avoid the canal tow path and travel there and back along the well surfaced and wide TPT route. The route is a little over 11 miles and is 99% flat and is a perfect summers day saunter. Due to the fact we are along a canal side for the majority of the route i would not recommend this route for children.
