Do you love Sushi? Curry? Thai? Do you like to eat out? Are you an experimental cook? Come on a culinary cycle tour of at least 3 great places to get cheap and interesting cookery ingredients. I've learnt that a lot of the menu of places like Yo! Sushi and Wagamama are easy, cheap and healthy to make at home. I'll guide you round my beloved Asian Supermarkets to find some amazing bargains compared to what you pay for sauces, relishes, spices, fresh and frozen goods in English Supermarkets. I'll show you where to buy very cheap woks and knives and fresh (live!) crabs and lobsters too! You could find a recipe for a dish you love to eat in restaurants and shop for the ingredients to make it fresh! I hope you'll be impressed by how cheap these stores are for exotic supplies and some everyday basics. You won't want to buy Naan Bread from an English Supermarket ever again when you see them big as dinner plates and fresh out the Tandoor Oven, just £1 for 4! The ride is just 9 miles in total, starting with a gentle steady climb through the Ouseburn into the centre of Newcastle to visit China Town's cobbled streets. After taking in smells and sights we'll stop for a cuppa. Bubble Pearl Tea, anyone?? We'll ride westwards to the vast Wing Hong Chinese Supermarket and then finish our visits with a stop at the very friendly MA Brothers store. From here the trip back to The Cycle Hub is all downhill so no problem filling up the bags to restock the store cupboards at home. Some of this ride will be on town centre roads - although I've picked the quietest routes where possible. You'll need to feel OK riding with traffic and buses around you, however the ride back is all along the Quayside cycle paths. Check out where we're going! http://hiyou.eu/about-us/ http://www.winghong.co.uk/ http://www.mabrothers.co.uk/ You'll probably want to bring a rucksack or panniers! If you'll spend less than £10 on your shopping please bring cash as you'll not be able to use a card to pay under that amount. As usual, please bring something to drink, suitable clothing, a lock and a spare inner tube for your bike. This ride will take a good couple of hours to allow for browsing and shopping, please allow the early part of the afternoon too. I'll aim to get us back to The Cycle Hub by 3pm at the very latest.
