This is a series of 6 rides, one per week. These rides are ideal if you can cycle approximately 12 miles. Don't worry if you are not quite there, we all ride together, no one is left behind.
Each week we will increase the miles by approximately 2 miles per week (depending on the ability of the group). By the end of the 6 weeks we hope to be going on a lovely 20 mile potter to celebrate your wonderful achievement!
We will cycle on tracks, cycleways and on short road sections. Don't worry they are short, generally around 0.6 mile. You will be supported all the way as we cycle these together.
PLEASE NOTE: The start point of the ride may differ from week to week. The reason for this?
So you can experience a variety of terrain.
The routes are generally plotted as a circular route so depending on the length of ride we may need to use a different start point to avoid heavy traffic etc.
This week: We leave Beuley Café turning left onto Barnsley Road. After 42 metres turn sharp left onto Slack Lane. Boyne Hill. At the roundabout Turn Left onto Wood Lane. Follow Wood Lane for 0.3 mile. The road turns 90 degrees to the left, on this corner we turn Right onto a cycle/walking track.
At the junction we switch back on ourselves following the track up and over the road, we turn right travelling along the road for 30 metres taking the turning on our left to re-join the track.
We follow the track all the way to Anglers Park where we will have a well earned brew before our return trip via the same route.

Ride 4 of 6 will start from Pugneys Watersports and Country Park as the information below:
We leave Pugneys via the cycle path on Denby Dale road in the direction of Wakefield. We then cross the road at the pelican crossing just before turning onto Thorne Lane. We return right into the entrance to Thornes Park by the cafe. After completing a loop of the park we cross Denby Dale Road (using pelican crossing) onto a quiet side road which will see us to a short section of main road before crossing the foot bridge to the Hepworth Gallery.
From there we cross Doncaster Road (using the pelican crossings) and cycle along tracks to join the River Calder. After skirting the river we venture through the wood towards Kirkthorpe Lane, turn right up an incline towards Heath Village.
Following the track down over Heath Common we cross back over Doncaster Road (using pelican crossings) onto a short section of cycle path. We will then travel on road along Oakenshaw Lane, a short distance of 0.6miles before turning left into Walton Nature Reserve.
Walton Nature Resever is a beautiful tranquil woodland which is reclaimned land from Waltons colliery days. Filled with the wonderful sights and sounds of nature there will be plenty of wildlife for you to spot and listen to.
We leave Walton Nature Reserve and travel on Oakenshaw Lane for 100yards turning right onto a cycle track that runs parallel with the train track running in and out of Sandal Agbrigg station.
As we reach Sandal Agbrigg train station we turn right onto Agbrigg Road following this for 200yards before turning onto quieter side roads to Barnsley Road.
Using the pelican crossing over Barnsley Road we follow quiet side roads into the back of Pugneys Country Park where we will finish the ride back at the cafe.
The ride will be approximately 1.5/2 hours
Don't worry about being left behind, you won't be. We will ride together as a group, waiting and supporting each other.
IMPORTANT: CYCLING HELMETS MUST BE WORN. You will not be allowed to participate if you do not have a cycling helmet.
