Newburn Activity Centre Grange Road Newcastle upon Tyne Tyne and Wear NE15 8ND Tel: 0191 264 0014

We will meet at Newburn Leisure Centre, by the main entrance to the building at 9.30 am prompt. There is ample free car parking. Our route will take us along both banks of the river Tyne on cycle paths and a few short stretches of quiet road. The route is suitable for hybrids, mountain bikes, cyclocross bikes etc. Road bikes can manage but may find it a bit bumpy on the dirt tracks. We’ll aim for a speed of 10-12 mph - or just leisurely cycling speed! The route has very few interruptions which allows for some very relaxed riding and chatting. The scenery is stunning, a lovely contrast from city commuting and the perfect weekend unwind along the riverbanks. Our stopping point is just before the end of our ride, at the fantastic Pedalling Squares Cafe. If you’ve not been before this is a must do destination for cyclists. Fantastic fresh ground coffee, a wide selection of teas and locally sourced foods and cakes make it one of our favourite places to see and be seen! Lots of cycle wear and gifts available too. http://www.pedallingsquares.cc/cafe.html Please bring with you on the ride : • some cash for the café if you’d like refreshments • a bottle of water and a snack if you might need one on the way round • a spare inner tube for your bike and a puncture repair kit • suitable clothing for changeable weather • sun lotion if you think you might need it We recommend some eye protection if possible, such as sunglasses or clear safety glasses. When sunny on this route there can be a few flying insects, they easily get stuck in unprotected eyes. Breeze rides are sociable and welcome ladies of all abilities, this ride is most suitable for riders who’ve completed at least a 10 mile ride before. The route is mostly flat or gently undulating but there is some bumpy bits and narrow paths next to the river that need confident handling of the bike. If you are unsure if this ride is suitable please contact [email protected] for more information.
