Walthamstow Town Square to Rainham Marshes

Leave the Town Square at 10:00am and travel to Leyton Marshes via Coppermill Lane. through the QE2 Park. Detour around the closed part of the Greenway (London's finest cycle superhighway) but rejoining it after the closed section then on to Beckton where we pick up CS3 and head out towards Rainham with a leisurely ride to the RSPB observation building (cafe) at the far end through the very beautiful marshes with exceptional views across the Thames and of the QEII bridge at Dartford. Have lunch there or bring lunch with you. After 45 minutes break, or thereabouts, we'll retrace our route back to Walthamstow Town Square. Bring supplies - tube, pump patches, plenty of fluids, as 40 miles is a long way - around four hours in the saddle. We'll stay together as a group so pace is relative to riders' experience and ability. the ride is relatively flat all the way with nothing you would really consider to be a hill so we'll be cruising along. The route will have no challenging surfaces for road tyres other than the usual detritus which we encounter every day.
