About the route
We head out along mainly towpaths from Wigans home of football and rugby , pass the world famous wigan pier , and out through Scotsmans flash , and through Leigh to Astley and then turn it around and come back . Its around 22 miles and suitable for mountain bikes and hybrids , there is easy access from the railway stations if you are coming by train .
