BORDERS AND BEACHES BREEZE RIDE - BAY CYCLES, TORQUAY

Aimed at those wanting a post Christmas workout, this challenging route from Bay Cycles in St Marychurch will head out down through Watcombe and up to meet a short section of main road at Barton. From where it will continue through quiet lanes to Kingskerswell. The ride will carry on via undulating lanes skirting the border of Torquay passing through Stoneycombe, North Whilborough, Compton and Marldon. At Marldon the route will take the underpass before making its way along to Preston Down Road to take in the magnificent views of the bay. Keeping with the stunning coastal views, the ride will make its way back in to Torquay along the seafront before winding its way back to Bay Cycles for refreshments via Meadfoot Lane. The route is not without a few hills so a good level of fitness helps. However, the hills are short-lived and broken up with some downhills and winding flats. And, if it comes to it, you can always get off and push! No shame in that we promise! Wearing a helmet is recommended however, if you don't have one you can still join in. That said, please note for those under 18 years of age a helmet is mandatory. High visibility clothing and lights is always a good idea day or night. Also, please bring plenty to drink and a spare inner tube just in case in case of a puncture. Parking is available at the council run car park (Chilcote Close) opposite Bay Cycles where charges apply. There is also free street parking a short distance from the shop in the nearby St Margaret’s Road and Rowley Road.
