Starting point

CH44 6QY

Seacombe Ferry Terminal, CH44 6QY

Our ride today will take us on the famous Mersey Ferry with our bikes and onto Otterspool Park the route is all off road all the way to the Park, passing the new Echo Arena, over the bridge at Liverpool Yacht club and onto the Park. ‘Otterspool’ is derived from the Old English name Otirpul or Oterpol. Otir was the Old English for otter and the location was so named because of the otters which inhabited the tidal creek and freshwater pools formed where a stream joined the River Mersey Recently improved through the ‘Pride in Our Proms’ project, Otterspool now features an attractive children’s play area and trim trail, with the dramatic coastal backdrop of views to the Clwydian Hills of north Wales. The new Otters Café will be the place we stop off for a coffee and then head back the same route to the Pier head. A saveaway ticket is available for £4.70 and is this is the cheapest option for travel which can be used all day on the ferry and trains if you wish to get the train back. We can purchase the tickets at the ferry terminal. The ride will start slightly earlier than other Saturday rides as the plan is to get the direct ferry service to Liverpool at 9.35am. We will all need to meet at Seacombe Ferry terminal at 9.20 am please. This will give us time for bike checks/signing in and getting our tickets, then onto the ferry arriving at the Pier Head at 9.45am. If you are coming from the Liverpool side we will meet you outside the terminal building at 9.45am. There is plenty of free parking at Seacombe terminal car park and the nearest train station is Hamilton Square Newcomers to Breeze rides are very welcome, don't worry if you don't know anyone, we're a friendly bunch.  Dress appropriately for the weather: in cool weather it's good to wear lots of thin layers, so you can add/remove them as needed; a rain jacket is a good idea too If you need to ask any questions please call me on 07729 114055 or email me at [email protected] Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please do not to worry you can still take part.  If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then. Look forward to seeing you there!
