Starting from - Meet in the old Barden Mill Car Park Reedley Marina to Pendle Heritage Ct This 8.5 mile, “There and Back”, ride follows the canal tow path through the more industrial and commercial areas of Brierfield and Nelson. Despite the environment there is still plenty to see and there’s the challenge of passing the Geese that occupy the tow path near Nelson. There are some stunning views across Pendle Hill and the surrounding areas as we progress towards Brierfield and Nelson. There will be a cafe stop at the Heritage Ct before we set off back to Reedley Marina, hopefully we may get the chance to have a blast around the Steven Burke cycle Hub. BB12 0DX

A steady route along the tow path of the Leeds Liverpool Canal and through local parks to Pendle Heritage Centre. The tow path is mainly tarmac throughout and a suitable surface for any wheel. The Steven Burke Cycle hub at the halfway point provides an optional 1.1km to the overall distance. The ride starts in the open country side of Reedley on the outskirts of Burnley and meanders its way through Brierfield and Nelson. As you cycle through you'll notice the old mill buildings and terraced houses which could tell a tale or two of the areas cotton heritage. as you reach the halfway point you leave the canal and cycle down to Barrowford and Pendle Heritage Centre with its 18th century walled garden. You can stop here for a coffee or lunch. From the Heritage Centre you retrace the route back to the canal and back to Reedleys open countryside. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the “Ride Start Time” as we will always do a cycle and clothing check. The “Ride Start Time” is 10:00am We always ride at a pace to suit the group, so don't be put off if you feel a bit nervous or rusty, we've all been there! I advise you to dress to suit the weather on the day. Its always a good idea to bring a drink with you. Helmets are not compulsory but I advise if you have one to bring it with you. A spare inner tube or repair kit is also a good addition to your kit. There will be a Coffee stop so bring some money if you want to buy drinks etc. If you have any questions please email [email protected] There is also a Breeze Network Pendle Facebook group which you can join. Links to future rides will be added to this group along with other useful information. https://www.facebook.com/groups/breezenetworkpendle/
