Starting point

WV6 8NY

Ranger Centre, Station Buildings, Henwood Road, Wolverhampton

From the Ranger Centre we can push our bikes onto the South Staffordshire Railway Track and cycle towards Wombourne, stopping for tea/coffee and cake at The Railway Cafe.  This will be followed by a short ride on the road leading us onto the canal towpath at Bratch Top Lock to take us back to the start. The route is approximately 10 miles; mostly flat apart from the occasional rise next to some of the locks along the canal.  Be prepared for some mud and puddles; probably best if you don't wear your Sunday best. This is meant to be a leisurely ride, so is suitable for ladies who have not ridden a bike for some time.  This ride is not suitable for road bikes; hybrids and mountain bikes are ideal. We have estimated a total time of 2 1/2 hours, which includes 10 to 15 minutes when we first meet up and a 30 minute stop at the cafe. This is a lovely route to cycle http://www.sstaffs.gov.uk/your_services/leisure_services/south_staffordshire_railway.aspx  away from traffic and ideal for those looking for a leisurely ride. The ride back on the canal towpath is also a nice route with lots of different canal boats to look at as we cycle past. Helmets are recommended, but are optional.  We will be carrying a pump and toolkit; please bring a spare inner tube as it can save time on repairs. If you would like further information or have any questions our email address is [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you.
