BS25 5NH

Churchill Surgery car park, Ladymead Lane, Churchill, BS25 5NH

A scenic 11 mile loop, the majority of which is along quiet country lanes, taking approximately 1.5 hours riding at an average of 10 miles an hour. We will meet at Churchill Surgery car park at the top of Ladymead Lane in Churchill, next to Churchill Memorial Hall.  After a quick bike check and warm up we will head out on to the A38 towards Lower Langford.  This can be a busy road but we will soon be leaving it to cycle on quiet country roads that will take us through open farm land and the pretty villages of Lower Langford and Wrington. There is a slight incline as we leave Wrington to head towards Congresbury, but it soon levels out where we can continue our ride and enjoy the views across the valley. We will stay on the quiet back roads until we enter Congresbury where it will be a short ride before turning off into a drove, The Causeway.  This drove will then take us onto the very quiet Puxton section of the Strawberry Line where we can meander and chat without the worry of any motor vehicles.  There is a very nice café along this section next to a fishing lake where refreshments can be taken if anybody would like to stop.  There is also a pub at the end of the ride if people would rather wait until then. The rest of the ride takes us through the back roads of Churchill Village before joining the A38 again at the traffic lights on Dinghurst Road and back to the Surgery car park.  The Stag and Hounds pub is two minutes away should anyone wish to continue socialising with their fellow riders. The ride is mostly flat with just a couple of inclines so suitable for all abilities.  You may want to bring a drink with you and a snack to keep the energy levels up.  Wearing a helmet is advisable though not essential.  We look forward to seeing you on the day.  Madi, Anna & Emma.
