CA11 7SE

The lay-by in front of the cemetery on Beacon Edge, Penrith CA11 7SE Parking is available on the Edge or surrounding streets.

This ride is a slightly longer ride with a few gentle hills. It is on quiet country roads. From Beacon Edge the ride takes us along the Edge to Strawberry Hill. We ride over the hill and descend to Great Salkeld and cycle towards Lazonby. Before Lazonby we turn left and ride through Inglewood Forest. The route takes us across the A6 and underneath the M6 to Calthwaite. We cycle through Calthwaite and turn left to return to Penrith via Plumpton stopping for coffee and cake at the Pot Place and then cycling to Stoneybeck roundabout and back. We will always ride at a pace to suit everyone the aim being to have a fun enjoyable ride. No one will be left behind. Remember to wear comfortable clothes suitable for that days weather and it is advisable to wear a helmet. It is a good idea to bring a spare inner tube and a drink. As this is a longer ride I shall probably take a sandwich and biscuit to have enroute. We often stop for coffee and cake near the end of a ride so if you would like to do this please bring some money.
