Trade and the Sea – Find out how Liverpool became ‘The World in One City’.

Leaving Sefton Park, we will ride down to the riverside and along the promenade with great views of the River Mersey.

To discover the history of Liverpool, we will follow the river – “The Lifeblood of the City” to the docks, which developed as the city became an important 19th century trading port. There is time to admire the restored Royal Albert Dock and the Pier Head waterfront and ride over the oldest dock in the world, before making our way to Chinatown to see the magnificent Chinese Arch.

Making our way along the historic Princes Avenue, we will return to Sefton Park where there is an opportunity to stop for a hot drink and chat in the park café.

This is part of a series of six short winter rides, led by a qualified Liverpool tour guide. The rides will each cover a different aspect of the heritage and history of our wonderful city of Liverpool. The shorter distances are ideal for the winter weather!

All the six rides in this series will be on a mixture of traffic-free paths and roads, so participants need to be confident riding in traffic and using their gears to climb some uphill roads. However, we will only be riding at a speed of around 10mph with plenty of opportunities to stop, to view and learn about the sites on the routes. So, the rides are great for anyone who is new to riding in a group, new to the city or just wanting to get out and about and learn a bit about Liverpool.

We will return to Sefton Park at the end of the ride, where there is an opportunity to stop for a hot drink and chat in the park café.

Any roadworthy bike is fine. Warm and weather-proof clothing is required as it is Winter!! Please bring a drink and a spare inner tube that fits your bike's wheels.

We never leave anyone behind
