Tuesday 24th July 2018 10:30am

Starting from - • Start at the Bike Shop: Pro Cycle Centre, Wharf Road, Newton Abbot, Tq12 2DA tel: 01626 438353

• You will be provided with Bikes, Trailers or a Child Seat, high viz jackets, helmets, a full safety check and seat adjustments and a welcome /safety talk by the Breeze Champion/Leader of the Active Mums ride.

• We will carefully travel out of Wharf Road and take a left on the cycle path pavement and then a second left which takes you into the cycle path towards the town quay bridge.

• We’ll get to the Town Quay and take a left onto Forde Road (which is a very quiet road during the week).

• Here the Leader will ask you all to ensure you are travelling in pairs, side by side and close together ‘like a lorry’ to avoid a long stretch of riders. We will dominate the road to the end and cross safety to the cycle path through the Aller Brook Nature Reserve and turn right (towards Forde House/Penn Inn)

• At the end of the Aller Brook cycle path we will take a left under the subway at the Penn inn roundabout. There are a few Chicane barriers to go through and a short decline and incline to make it through to Sandringham park.

• Turning left after the subway, into Sandringham Park, the Active mums will cycle through the park to the foot Bridge over the A380.

• The bridge will lead us back to the Aller Brook Cycle Path, continuing onto Forde road and the Town Quay Cycle Bridge.

• Here’s where we will either go straight back to the bike shop and complete the shorter route, or choose to go over the cycle bridge to Hackney Marshes / Kingsteignton in the new cycle path.

• The longer route will stop for a short break and turn around at Hackney Marshes to the bike shop via the town quay once more.

The Active Mums Newton Abbot route takes from 30 minutes to 40 minutes in duration depending on the numbers, abilities and confidence of the group. The pace is steady and it’s designed to encourage mums back into gentle exercise after having a baby. It’s also popular with mums who have toddlers and pre-school aged children.
We provide an enjoyable route, with some interesting sights, small challenges and a friendly group of like-minded mums.
There will always be a Leader or an Assistant leader at the front and back of the group encouraging and supporting you all the way around. We will all stop as a group if required, and stay together throughout.
