Starting point

Tyne and Wear
NE15 8QA

Come along and join us for a bike ride along Newburn Park’s resurfaced cycling route 72.

British Cycling Guided Rides, Newburn Activity Centre, Sustrans and Gateway Wheelers (British Cycling’s NE Limitless Focus Club) have joined forces to allow this ride to take place.

For the past 2 years Sustrans have been redesigning the Wylam Wagonway cycle route 72 and making it an access for all route, meaning all barriers have been adjusted to all adapted bike though. The final part of the route going through Newburn Park is now completed and ready to be used.

Newburn Activity Centre which is located next to Newburn Park have several adapted bikes for hire to people who would like to use the route. Their fleet include, trikes, wheelchair bike, go karts, side by side and more. However, the centre is unable to do guided rides.

British Cycling Guided Rides and Gateway Wheelers were honoured to be asked by Sustrans and Newburn Activity Centre for help in leading an adapted cycle ride along the route.

Starting at Newburn Activity Centre the route leads us to the start of Wylam Wagonway, where we will go a mile along the route to see the new installed barriers and how easy it is to get through them. Heading back, we will take the newly resurfaced cycling route though Newburn Park and back to Newburn Activity Centre.

PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATELY and bring a drink and snack.
