Alum Scar Ride

Explore the hidden byways of Hoghton, Pleasington and Witton. The route links together local bridleways, byways and backroads. During dry spells the trails are hardpacked and fast rolling...during wet periods some of the bridleways can be particularly cloying! This is a surprisingly challenging local ride in that it involves a fair amount of climbing, some technical descending and is approximately 18 miles in distance. Therefore it is recommended to children aged 11+ who have regular off-road riding experience and can ride for around 3 hours or more.

Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Helmets are recommended for adults - children must wear a helmet. All riders should be dressed appropriately for the weather conditions (wet weather gear in case of rain, suncream etc on sunny days). Please bring a spare inner tube that will fit the wheel size of your bike, in case of punctures - the ride leader will be happy to carry out the repair if required. It is anticipated that this ride could take over 3 hours - please bring snacks and drinks that will last the duration of the ride.

Please arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled start of the ride to allow for bike checks and registration. When adults register online, you can add accompanying children when you reach the "your booked screen" scroll down and look to the left of the screen.

If you have a medical condition that you feel the ride leader should know about, please speak to them in confidence and carry any medication that you may need on the ride.
