Amsterdam Trails from Newcastle 13/6-20/6/2026

This is a private ride, not visible to non-group members.
If you have been invited to join this ride it is because you expressed an interest. You can choose to drop out.
The invited 4 riders at present who are definitely going are Dave Heath, Dicky Stafford, Phil Mason and myself.
There may be another few riders who can join us. See my note at the bottom of the following details.

Total cost £402 each.

Includes ferry and accommodation.
Excludes meals and train up to Newcastle.

The plan is to catch the ferry from Newcastle at 5pm on Saturday 13/06/2026. The Ferry arrives in IJMuiden at 10am Sunday morning and we then ride the 15 miles to the accommodation at Sloterdijk in Amsterdam. We can drop luggage at the hotel desk (we won't need to carry the luggage again until the day we leave). Weather depending, we can optionally cycle for most days Sunday to Friday. Perhaps 25 to 35 miles per day. Circular routes in the Amsterdam larger area. We check out of the accommodation at 11am Friday (but can leave luggage for a while). On Friday 5:30pm we catch the Ferry from IJMuiden to Newcastle.   Arrives Saturday morning 10:30 am in Newcastle.

I checked with the accommodation. They have space for our bikes in the room and in the (2 mtr wide) lift. My large frame bike is 190 cms long. No e-bikes allowed at hotel.

The accommodation has 4 single beds in 2 rooms. The complex has many facilities including gym and sauna. It is also very close to train and tram transport at Sloterdjik. So optionally people can choose to spend some hours seeing the Amsterdam sights/restaurants/bars on foot. Or it is 3 miles cycle/walk to town centre.

For further plans/ideas/comments we will use a facebook group chat (private for the group going).

Once we have 4 in agreement for the trip I will require everyone to send me the £402. At that point I will pay the money for the group. This is a cheap rate as it is not cancelable (with booking.com). If your plans change in future we can only get your money back for the trip if we can find someone to fill your place.

Note: train tickets become available 12 weeks prior to the trip.  You will need to buy train tickets yourself (which is approx £60 return). Remember to book the free spot for your bike and I suggest get an early train to arrive in Newcastle for lunchtime on Saturday 13/06/2026. Then on Saturday 20/06/2026 the ferry arrives at 10:30am. I suggest leaving on a train from Newcastle after lunchtime at the earliest.

Once we have 4 people booked, it may be possible that another few could join later. But they will have a different room and they can optionally involve me to help co-ordinate it all. But keep in mind a new room will require a lead 'booker' who will be responsible for putting down their credit card in case of room damage.
