This ride will be a "treasure hunt" charity ride in support of Watchtree Wheelers cycling charity at Watchtree Nature Reserve, Wiggonby near Carlisle.
Watchtree prides itself on being one of the best accessible cycling centres in the North West for disabled and able riders alike. However, they are sadly falling short in one aspect; they currently don’t have enough bikes to cater for multiple wheelchair users at any one time.
This is why they need YOU and your support, as all proceeds made from the sale of Watchtree Wheelers Solway Cycle Challenge tickets are going to purchase a new Veloplus cycle for wheelchair users at the reserve.
As the leader for this ride is part of the Watchtree Wheelers family and wishing to support disabled cycling in this para-Olympic season, if you would like to you can support the Watchtree Wheelers charity by officially joining their challenge and purchasing tickets online through

https://watchtree.co.uk/events/solway-cycle-challenge/

but of course, this choice is entirely up to you.
This Watchtree to Round the Island Solway Cycle Challenge ride will be a fun challenge either way. We will be continuing to include outdoor socially distanced drinks & snack breaks with a great view.

This ride covers some of Watchtree's list of landmarks or Treasures which you would need to ride to.
To complete their Solway Cycle Challenge criteria you need to "bag" at least 6 of their 17 treasures on the list.

Watchtree's Solway Cycle Challenge event is running between Saturday 17th July and Thursday 30th September. This ride falls within the event and is the second guided route collecting different "treasures" from our first ride along the coast where we "bagged" 7 treasures.

This ride takes in another 5 of the official treasures on that list. So if you do wish to take part by supporting the Watchtree Wheeler charity the cost of tickets is £15.
(See above and apply online) and you will get a certificate & medal as a thank you & to mark your achievement when you have completed their challenge, sent to your home address.
At each of the landmarks or treasures we will take photos to show we were there; you can also use your Strava or GPS tracker as evidence of your accomplishment to collect your medal and certificate.

Please see this rides conversation tab for our list of treasures we will be collecting and for the exact route to be taken.
A hybrid bike would suite this route best but road bikes can join in if you don't mind riding the rougher road surfaces.

Please do not attend the ride if you have covid 19 symptoms, have someone in your household who does or have been asked to self isolated by the government track and trace system.
Cancelling your place wont be a problem just let us know before the ride so we are not waiting unnecessarily for you, especially if its raining.

Any question or queries concerning this ride just message me on the conversation tab below.

Happy Collecting :)
