Starting point

HP4 1LT

Ashridge Visitor Centre, Moneybury Hill, Berkhamsted.

This ride takes us through the beautiful lanes of the Ashridge Estate. We start at the Bridgewater Monument and ride towards Ringshall before turning right through Little Gaddesden. Here we will catch glimpses of Ashridge House built in the 19th Century and it's worth pausing here to take a look at the quaint little church of St Peter & St Paul before continuing on to Nettleden and Frithsden. We arrive at the village of Potten and turn towards Little Heath where, nestled in the woods is a tiny plant nursery and tea shop so bring your panniers if you want to buy something special for the garden - but bring cash as cards and cheques are not accepted. After refreshments we cycle through the woods before returning to the visitor centre...where there are even more spectacular home made cakes and more tea! This 15 mile ride is a nice one for beginners and newcomers are welcome. We always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. The route is all road or tarmac paths suitable for all types of bicycles. It's a good idea to bring some water and you may also want to bring a snack. Dress appropriately for the weather and please bring a puncture repair kit. Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don't have one please do not to worry you can still take part. If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then. For more information on rides in Beds and Luton please see our Facebook page. Look forward to seeing you there! Jayne 07795674162
