The route is mainly on quiet country lanes that meander through the lovely Shropshire countryside.
We leave the centre of Ellesmere and ride southwards to Welsh Frankton, Rednal, West Felton, Wykey and Stanwardine before a lunch break (after ~17 miles) at The New Inn, Baschurch.

Baschurch is centred around the Church of All Saints, which dates from the 13th and 14th centuries. It is believed a battle took place a mile or so north of the village of Baschurch where stands the ancient fortress now known as The Berth. More recently this site has been suggested as being the resting place of King Arthur!

After lunch we will return to Ellesmere via Weston Lullingfields, Bagley, Hordley and Tetchill.
Back in Ellesmere, we can reward ourselves with an ice cream and/or a cup of coffee, depending upon the weather!

Please ensure you have a road worthy bike, with the tires pumped up to the correct pressure. Don’t forget a spare inner tube of the correct size for your bicycle wheel.

Cycle Helmets are compulsory.

The ride is not suitable for beginners. Experienced newcomers are very welcome. We never leave anyone behind!

This ride starts in Ellesmere, the heart of Shropshire’s ‘Lake District’ and features a delightful glacial mere which attracts an abundant amount of wildlife. This pretty town boasts medieval streets, Georgian houses, and half-timbered buildings, and has hosted a weekly market since originally being granted a charter by Henry III in 1221.
