Basingstoke (Eastrop) to Hook and back

This partly circular ride uses a mixture of cycle paths and roads. It goes out via Basing, crosses the A30 to Up Nately then goes back across the A30 and up the hill to Newnham (where we’ll stop for a breather at the top if need be). From there it goes into Hook with a section on the A30 (30 mph section). Depending on the weather we'll either stop at a cafe in the centre of Hook or use roads and paths to Hook Community Centre. Retrace to Newnham then back via Newnham Lane to Basing /Eastrop. Overall riding pace approx 8 mph. Please make sure you arrive so that you're ready to start the ride at 0945 with time before that for a chat about the route. And if you're new to Breeze please be there 10 mins beforehand so we can guide you through a bike check. Meet under the bandstand (by the boating lake) in Eastrop Park. If parking is an issue try the car park at the eastern end of the park. Use any bike type so long as it’s in working order (though only use knobbly tyres if you know you can do the distance ok). Make sure your tyres are well inflated. • Bring a spare inner tube, tyre levers and pump (plus puncture repair kit if you have one). • Also bring water if it’s hot and money / bike lock for café. • Please wear clothing appropriate for the weather (layers work well when it's colder and waterproofs can help with windchill as well as rain).
