Whether you are new to cycling, getting back on a bike for the first time after a break or want to feel a little more confident on rides here is the perfect opportunity to build your confidence in a traffic-free, fun and friendly environment. This series of three coaching sessions has been designed specifically for women to take you step by step through some core cycling skills and to help build your confidence and improve your skills.

Ideally, please sign up to all three, but otherwise please come to what you can.

There will be plenty of opportunity to practice what you learn and to ask questions. In the first session we’ll focus on developing core and bike handling skills and then, in the later sessions, we will build on these skills and also introduce some group riding so that you’ll leave with the confidence to join one of our Breeze rides.

Whatever your experience so far our sessions are open to all women that would like to improve their cycling and our qualified female coaches and Breeze Champions will be there to help and guide you each week whilst having lots of fun in a friendly atmosphere.

What do I need to take part?

(NB - please make sure BEFORE the course either that your bike has been serviced or at the least that you have ridden it and checked that brakes, gears etc all work well.)

* A bike with gears that is in safe working order (with the tyres pumped up firm). These could be either: Road Bike, Mountain Bike or Hybrid/Town Bikes (sorry no BMX or Single Speed/Fixies).
* A helmet – you can’t take part without one
* Suitable clothing for cycling/weather. Leggings or shorts are ideal as they cannot get caught up in the bike. Please do not wear loose clothing. (Bear in mind there will be frequent stops for coaching points and discussion so over-dress if unsure! Bring gloves).
* Trainers or sturdy flat shoes. (As we’ll be getting on and off the bike a lot it will be easier if you do not wear cycling shoes as we will be riding slowly and stopping regularly. If you are confident with cycling shoes and not sure about cycling without them, or want to build your confidence wearing them, bring both and we can see what works best - you can also change into them after the session should you join us for a short ride. )

Bring a drink and something to eat (if needed) and remember to tell us on the day if you have anything of a medical nature you wish to let us know about.

We will also offer an optional short ride following the course each week so that you can practice your new skills. The RIDE will start shortly AFTER 12 noon - i.e. as soon as we have cleared away after the coaching session - and last approx. one hour.

Still not sure if this is for you? Then please drop a note to us using the messaging / conversation functions on this page. Please also join us on the Breeze Network Basingstoke Facebook page for updates and more information on upcoming rides.
