This ride is for women who have not ridden a bicycle for years, or have just learned and want to practice, or only ride very occasionally and want to become more confident. We will start in the park, and as we become more confident, we can cycle in the quiet residential streets together. When we are ready, we can go to places nearby such as Hanwell Zoo, Osterley Park, the Hillingdon Cycle track and Northala Fields.
Once we feel comfortable cycling in the park we will be going out on cycle paths and nearby quieter roads. We will also learn how to cycle on other roads, but if the traffic is too much, we can always get off our bikes and walk with them across busy junctions.
If the group is willing, we can stop for refreshments in a café or a socially distanced rest in a park or open space - a chance for us to get to know each other better.
Please check that your bike is in working order with the tyres pumped up. You will also need to bring your own mask/face covering in case you need to go into a café or shop, and hand sanitizer. If you want, you can bring some money/cards so you can buy yourself refreshments or bring something to drink/eat. A bicycle lock is useful, but not essential. Don't worry if you don't have a helmet, you can still ride with us.
I welcome women who have not ridden a bicycle for years, those who have just learned and want to practice, or only ride very occasionally and want to become more confident and get to know some new people at the same time.
