Starting point

WA16 6QN

Stableyard at Tatton Park, Knutsford, Cheshire.

This ride is perfect for beginners or those who haven’t been on a bike for years. It starts and finishes at The Stableyard at Tatton Park, home to the cafe and, as luck would have it, a bike hire stop - so you don’t even need to own a bike to join in this ride! It’s a fairly flat route with plenty to interest cyclists, from some spectacular views over parkland and the expanse of Tatton Mere to the estate’s famous deer grazing beneath the trees. It’s not completely traffic free, as cars also use the main access roads around the park, but vehicles are travelling very slowly and cyclists, pedestrians and deer rule the roost around here! A section of it is also completely traffic free as we go off-road and head up to the Airborne Forces Memorial, which has a breathtaking view that would be a crime to miss. After the ride we aim to stop for a picnic, so feel free to bring a packed lunch or some money for the cafe and join us. For those who may want a more challenging cycle, this is linked to another ride, ‘Big Breeze Bike Ride - Marbury to Tatton’ as a group of us will be cycling over from Marbury Country Park, in Northwich, cycling around Tatton on this ride, tucking into a picnic and then heading back to Marbury. Feel free to join in either or both of these rides. The Tatton Explorer ride will take roughly an hour and is suitable for all bikes, but please bring a helmet, inner tube and puncture repair kit just in case. Newcomers to Breeze rides are very welcome, don't worry if you don't know anyone, we're a friendly bunch.   Dress appropriately for the weather: in cool weather it's good to wear lots of thin layers, so you can add/remove them as needed; a rain jacket is a good idea too. Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please do not to worry you can still take part. If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then. If you have any questions email [email protected]. DB Bike Hire run the cycle hire stop at Tatton Park. They have a good stock of bikes so you can hire on the day. Rates are £5 per hour and £10 for three hours. If you wish to book in advance ring 01625 374458.
