Welcome to HSBC Guided Rides. This ride is aimed at people who have just got into cycling and are looking to build confidence and explore the lightly trafficked corners of Carlisle and surrounding countryside. The ride is almost entirely traffic-free and is ideal for families.
You will be led by British Cycling-trained leaders who are there to support you all the way. We will leave Bitts Park on cycle tracks and pick up the Caldew Cycleway though Denton Holme. The beautiful Caldew accompanies us all the way to Dalston – you will be rewarded by some amazing views and landscapes.
Finally, we must follow any pandemic restrictions. Group size will be limited to six and we ask everyone to maintain social distance. If new restrictions are brought in please check this website for the latest guidance on this ride.
Please note change in starting location due to building work at the Sands Centre. We will now start at Bitts Park.
Starting from Bitts Park in Carlisle meeting at the Queen Victoria statue will will head out around Bitts Park and cross Castle Way, from here we will join the Caldew Cyclepath and head out towards Dalston.
Usually we will have a stop off at a Cafe in Dalston for refreshment, however this will depend on Covid-19 restrictions so please ensure you bring a drink with you just incase there are no facilities at Dalston, we will then return to Carlisle via the same route and cross Castle Way in front of the Castle before returning back to Bitts Park.
