Brampton

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour. Starting in the market town of Brampton we make our way out past the stunning Lanercost Priory which oozes historic importance, before we cycle alongside the world heritage site of Hadrian's Wall to Bird Oswald Roman museum.  To digest this historic tour we continue to Gilsland for a café stop and breather before returning along delightful country lanes with terrific views across the Solway to Scotland before returning to Brampton.  The vast majority of this ride is cycled using the National Cycle Route 72 which does include some hills to climb.  We will be cycling at a nice steady pace with plenty of time to stop and have a breather looking at the views and sites on offer. Public Transport: Bus service 685 runs between Carlisle & Newcastle and stops in Brampton
