Breeze Along To The Basin For New Riders

Starting in the carpark at the beginning of Five Locks Close , Pontnewydd , we will join the canal and peddle to " The Basin " at Pontymoile . This stretch of the canal is mainly flat but there are a couple of bumps but nothing major . We will be crossing a couple of roads but they do have a zebra / pedestrian crossing . The scenery and wildlife is stunning along here , watch out for the Herons , Moorhens , Kingfishers and not forgetting the Ducks . We will soon arrive at " The Basin " where we can enjoy a cuppa and a slice in Pontypool leisure Centre ( so remember to bring some pennies) , before we peddle back to Five Locks .
For all rides please ensure that your brakes are functional and that your wheels are turning freely , tyres should be firm enough that you can't dimple them with your thumb and helmets are essential . To ensure everyone's safety we will do a quick bike check before we set off at 10.00am .
