Starting point

BS4 3HQ

We’ll set off from the playground in Arnos Vale park (just behind the Arnos Manor hotel)

We’ll be riding out towards Long Ashton and beyond. It’s a pretty flat route (with a bit of a climb through Ashton Court) that’s about half on the (no-traffic) bike path and a half on roads. We’ll set off from the playground in Arnos Vale park (just behind the Arnos Manor hotel) and ride along the cycle path that runs alongside the river towards Temple Meads. We’ll then work our way through town using cyclepaths where we can towards Ashton Court on the Festival Way. We’ll head out to Long Ashton and see how far we can get towards Nailsea before coming back the way we came. The ride will finish with tea and cake for those who can stay (probably at the café at Arnos Vale cemetery), unless everyone wants a half-time café stop instead. This ride is ideal for people who want to improve their confidence riding/anyone who wants a morning bike ride followed by tea and cake. It will be a steady chatting pace and no-one will be left behind. It’s probably not for complete beginners though – it’s a bit too long for that. This is the final ride in a series of three. The others are on July 9 and 16. Feel free to book on just one or all three to work up to this one. See http://www.goskyride.com/Search/Details?eventid=80547 and http://www.goskyride.com/Search/Details?eventid=80548. Any bike will do for this ride as long as it goes (and stops), but you'll be faster if you DON'T have a mountain bike with big knobbly tyres on. We recommend that you get your bike checked over if you haven’t used it for a while. Wearing a helmet is advisable, though not essential. Please bring some money if you want tea and cake, a spare inner tube to fit your bike (and pump and lock if you have them), and enough clothes to keep you warm and dry if the weather turns or suncream if it’s looking good. Please carry water and snacks for the ride. We’ll set off at 9.30 am, so please arrive 10 minutes early for introductions and a quick bike check. I've kept the timings generous so we may finish before the estimated time. If you’ve any further questions please contact me via email ([email protected]) or by phone (07894 207310). l look forward to seeing you there! Emma
