This is an excursion to the Bhaktivedanta Manor at Letchmore Heath, UK home of the Hare Krishna movement. The estate was donated by late Beatle George Harrison and now houses a temple, pre-school and school, eco-friendly dairy farm and College of Vedic Studies. The community is very welcoming to visitors: we can have a free guided tour lasting about an hour, and buy reasonably-priced snacks on site. Our route takes us through Canons Park in Stanmore and out of London along Edgwarebury Lane, which becomes traffic-free and features lovely views, horses, and a very steep hill! You can walk up it if necessary. We pass Aldenham Country Park to arrive in Letchmore Heath. There is some cycling along roads, but most are not too busy. After the visit we cross the A41 into Little Bushey Lane and take the Colne Valley Cycle Path to Watford High Street Station, from which we can return to Harrow & Wealdstone, near the Leisure Centre, or any other station on the Overground line. You need some experience for this ride, and any bike is suitable. Don't forget your Oyster card. Please ensure that your tyres are pumped up before the ride, your brakes work and wheels turn freely. Helmets are not compulsory, but please bring water, a lock for your bike and some money for lunch. Check the weather forecast and dress appropriately, wearing non-baggy clothing that will not get caught in the bike chain. We have a Facebook page - Breeze Network Harrow. Please 'like' this page to keep up to date with our rides. We are a friendly and sociable bunch and look forward to seeing you!
