Breeze Birthday - lets party at The Fairydust Emporium!

Breeze is 12! We are celebrating this in the middle of June, so on Sunday 18th June this ride will take you from Allonby to Silloth, for tea and cake (or whatever else you want!) at a favourite Breeze cafe - the amazing Fairydust Emporium.

And now for the ride details! Come and explore along the Solway Coast, on a fairly traffic free route, that also happens to be fairly flat. Meet in the car park opposite Twentymans in Allonby(free parking!), and we will leave from there, heading out on the new cycle path. There is a short stint on the main road before we turn right and use the back roads to get to Mawbray, where we will once again rejoin the cycle path. We follow it now to Beckfoot (there’s another very short road stint), and then will turn right to join Route 72 on the back roads and will head into Silloth. (As we first turn onto this part of the route there is a short section that is not very road bike friendly, but is still doo-able on skinny tyres). Once we arrive in Silloth we will visit The Fairydust Emporium for tea and scones/cake/etc (the breakfasts have proved popular with our ladies in the past). Please bring some money and a lock for your bike. For our return journey, we can either just go back the way we came, or hop into Hadrian’s Cycleway to do a more inland route. The distances for each route are almost identical. On return to Allonby, there will be the option of ice cream from Twentymans, Jack’s surf bar does food and take away coffee, or the Drowsy Goose will hopefully be on the Green serving their coffee and other hot drinks.

Riders must ensure that they are suitably clothed for the weather, and that they are wearing a cycle helmet. A spare inner tube is this season’s essential accessory that you mustn’t leave the house without! Please make sure that you bring a drink with you. Not joined a Breeze ride before? Don’t worry, we’re a friendly bunch, the route allows us to have a chat as we ride, and we always go at the pace of the slowest rider to make sure that no-one is left behind.
