This is one of my favourite routes, going along pretty lanes with good views, so fingers crossed for the weather! The route to the Fiddle Drill is hilly, but none of the hills is very steep and it's always OK to walk. Coming back is downhill and then flat.
Please bring an inner tube for your bike, a pump, a drink and money for refreshments. I hope to buy a light lunch at the Fiddle Drill but if you don't think you'll do this, please also bring something to eat. Cycling is an excellent excuse for keeping yourself well-fed! Helmets are advisable but not compulsory and please come prepared for changeable weather.
Additional important info arising from the covid pandemic:
British Cycling are sticking strictly to government guidelines. Leaders have been told not to touch participants' bikes except as a last resort. If everyone could check their bikes extra carefully before coming, it would be great. British Cycling's Commuting bike check video is good :
