The route starts at the cycle centre and we will cross the road via the bridge and make our way into the forest. We will be going round the forest on fire roads making our way up past speculation car park and past the Mireystock Tunnel before turning up a tarmac road and continuing to Woorgreen's nature reserve. We will then head back taking in the sights of the sculpture trail (including the Cathedral sculpture) and returning down hill back to the cycle centre for a well earned rest and food.

Our first evening ride for Breeze into the Forest. This ride will do a 11km tour of the forest on gravel fire roads starting from the Cannop ponds cycle centre. The forest of Dean is full of history and we will be riding part of the old tramway and passing mine workings. We will also taking in parts of the Sculpture trail and going through through Woodgreen's Nature reserve and hopefully see the grazing Highland Cows and Exmoor ponies which reside there time to time. This is a social ride which will hopefully bring or welcome back woman into cycling. This ride will be gentle but be aware the first half is a steady climb on fire trails but we will have regulars stops to make sure we all stay together.

The route is traffic free and we will be riding forest fire roads which are wide gravel paths.

There are no café stops on this route as we are in the heart of the forest, but there will be plenty of stops to regroup, chat and have a snack or two. We will also stop at any interesting features we come across such as sculptures or historic landmarks to take a nice break and enjoy the forest to the full.

Bring your own bike. This ride is suitable for bikes with off-road tyres (wide and knobbly) and please make sure your bike in good condition. Helmets are mandatory and gloves would be recommended. Lights will not be needed as we will be back well before sunset. Please bring water and snacks for the ride as we will not be passing any cafes but will be stopping at Pedalabikeaway at the end of the ride for refreshments. The café is open will 9pm on Thursdays and serves meals, cake and drinks- usually they will do a pizza & cider or burger & cider for £10 but they don't post this options up till a few days before. Bring a waterproof coat just in case the weather take a turn as it can be unpredictable weather in this area.
