This is the first 'Breeze into the Forest' ride at the Forest of Dean. To celebrate the Woman's Tour of Britain passing through the area (on Wednesday 8th June), this ride will do a 10km tour of the forest on gravel fire roads. The forest of Dean is full of history and we will be riding part of the old tramway and passing mine workings. We will also taking in parts of the Sculpture trail and going through through Woodgreen's Nature reserve and hopefully see the grazing Highland Cows and Exmoor ponies which reside there time to time. This is a social ride which will hopefully bring or welcome back woman into cycling. This ride will be gentle but be aware the first half is a long shallow climb along the family cycle trail but we will have regulars stops to make sure we all stay together.

The route is traffic free and we will be riding forest fire roads which are wide gravel paths.

There are no café stops on this route as we are in the heart of the forest, but there will be plenty of stops to regroup, chat and have a snack or two. We will also stop at any interesting features we come across such as sculptures or historic landmarks to take a nice break and enjoy the forest to the full.

Bring your own bike. This ride is suitable for bikes with off-road tyres (wide and knobbly) and please make sure your bike in good condition. If your need to hire a bike your can hire one from Pedalabikeaway which is 5 mins drive from the start point (GL16 7EH). Helmets are mandatory and gloves would be recommended. Please bring water and snacks for the ride as we will not be passing any cafes but will be stopping at Beechenhurst Café at the end of the ride for coffee and cake. Bring a waterproof coat just in case the weather take a turn as it can be unpredictable weather in this area.

We never leave anyone behind
