Breeze Lumiere Ride
Sun 19th November 2017 10am 19 miles Start at Herrington Country Park, Houghton le Spring DH4 7EL (bottom car park by the lake)
We can't resist creating our own bit of Durham's Lumiere weekend by organising a light themed ride . So, we've scoured our local maps and found a starting point just a whisker from Shiney Row and we'll pedal past the Stadium of Light with our destination being Roker Lighthouse and Faustos cycle themed cafe. We'll be going bling and digging out our Christmas lights a bit early.
The ride is a mix of on and off road with a few hills, although mostly short-ish. Suitable for most bikes apart from skinny road tyres. We'll ride out via Penshaw and along the banks of the River Wear (as much as possible) to Roker. On the way back we'll head through town (Sunderland) and along NCN 70 past Silksworth and Farringdon back to the Country Park.
The trip is suitable for moderately confident riders. You'll be in the good company of other female cyclists while amazing yourself at the wealth of off road routes around Sunderland.
Please dress suitably for the weather - you may need gloves, a buff and extra layers and remember to bring a spare tube to fit your tyres.
In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Expect to be back about 3pm.
