Starting point

East Sussex
BN3 1PP

This ride gives regular Breeze riders a chance to try out one of the routes used on the Brighton Mitre Cycle Club 'Come and Try It' (CaTI) rides. Some women are nervous of joining a CaTI, so we will be a Breeze group but meet at the same time and place as Brighton Mitre - so you can see how many women are now in the club (over 70 of us!) and chat to club members if you want to know more. We will let the Mitre groups leave the cafe before us so that we don't have the pressure of them coming up behind, and we can ride at the pace of the slowest, like we always do :-)

********************

We start off gently from St. Anne's Well Gardens and begin the climb out of Hove to Devils Dyke, then down past Saddlescombe Farm and on to Poynings. From here we head North through the typical Sussex country village of Twineham and then turn to head South towards Wineham and Woodmancote.

We then head East to Pyecombe to join the cycle path along the A23 (FLAT!) There is one last sting in the tale which is the steep Mill Road where we then head back into Hove.

********************

As usual with a Breeze ride, our pace will be dictated by the group. We won't leave anyone behind and we will ride together as a group, as much as possible.

We will also have a cafe or pub stop somewhere along the way. It's likely to be the Royal Oak pub on Wineham Lane, or Wayfields Park Farm cafe on the way back along the A23 cycle path.

Please check your bike before heading out:
- are both tyres fully inflated?
- is the chain clean and lightly oiled?
- do both brakes work?
-does your bike have a water bidon cage attached to the frame? We recommend you get one fitted if your bike allows it. We will encourage more experienced riders to drink while they are cycling and for those that are not ready to try this out yet, it makes it much easier to access your drink when we briefly stop before the main café break

Bring drink, preferably in a cycling specific water bidon, snacks, money for the cafes, and an inner tube for your bike (not all inner tubes fit all bikes, and it's easier to change an inner tube than try to fix a puncture by the side of the road!).

********************

If you've got any questions about the ride, please contact the main ride leader Maria on 07789 465941. Also let her know if you're booked on the ride but are delayed getting to the start - we may have to leave without you, however, if other riders need to be back by a certain time.
