About the route

The route is 50% offroad and takes you on quiet lanes and woodland bridleways, through Aldenham Village and Letchmore Heath to Elstree Aerodrome Cafe where we can enjoy a snack, hot drink or cake watching the small aircraft take off and land, before heading back. There are toilets on site.
Mountain bikes, hybrids with offroad tyres, gravel / cyclocross bikes are best suited to this. Bridleways and off road tracks may have muddy and uneven surfaces so road / slick tyres are not suitable.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear a helmet as the route goes through some bumpy terrain. Don't forget a drink and a snack, a spare inner tube or two, and some cash or a card in case of emergency. Please bring a lock to secure your bike during the coffee stop
Please arrive by 09:15am so we can run through a riders register and bike checks before we set off.
Note: The route is not recommended for ebikes or adapted cycles as we pass through a number of narrow gates / stiles.
