Breeze ride Barnstaple to Instow

This is a route from Barnstaple to Fremington Quay and back, on the Tarka Trail with Debbie and Julie. We welcome beginners and those who want to gain confidence on the bike. We will be there to support you and enjoy a gentle ride along the Taw estuary with other women. It will be a steady, sociable ride and we will stay together going at a pace that we can all do comfortably.

We will set out through Rock Park to cross the River Taw by the iron footbridge. We will follow the cycle paths past the Tarka Leisure Centre, Tesco and the station to reach the Tarka Trail. Instow is the halfway point where we can stop for refreshments at the Instow Arms or on the riverside if you want to bring your own refreshments. We will return to Barnstaple retracing our steps.

The route is almost entirely traffic free. There is just a short stretch of road between the leisure centre and Tesco and along Marine Drive at Instow. The route is flat apart from the ramp up onto iron bridge and paths are tarmacked.
