Toby Carvery Greenmount Brandlesholme Road, Greenmount, Bury, Greater Manchester, BL8 4DS

Starting at the Bulls Head Toby Carvery Greenmount, meet in the car park to start a steady 26 mile route which will take around 3 hours at a steady pace. Mums of school age children will need to bear in mind this route will take you up to around 2-3pm, depending on the speed of the riders. This is a challenging ride mainly due to the distance and time in the saddle, but most people will find the ride comfortable to manage. If you have only done shorter rides, this will be the next step up. *Road bike would be OK on a dry spell but grippier tyres would cope better with the mixed terrain. Anyone who wants to do part of the ride then head off is more than welcome to join us along the way as long as you are confident with the return journey alone. We will start at the Lines all the way down to Bury Town centre behind the Police Station, up to Bury Grammar school to some back roads to a brief spell on Manchester Road, diverting off at the junction at Parkhills Road to Gigg Lane-all the way to the bottom to a cycle path leading to Pilsworth. From there a brief spell down Croft Lane-left onto the housing estate to cut through to Hollins Lane, then down Pole Lane which leads to a track to Mode Hill Lane in Whitefield. From there though to Sandy Hill Road and through more residential area to St Margaret Road and Heaton Park. A lovely coffee break in the café by the lake before heading back through Prestwich along Whittaker Lane, by St Marys Park across Bury New Road towards St Marys Road and back onto cycle paths leading to the Outwood Trail, off road all the way to Radcliffe near McDonalds. Then we return to some quiet roads through Radcliffe Town centre, across Spring Land to Banana Walk, across the canal bridge, Greenbank Road to Ainsworth Road. Then right along Bury Bolton Road, left at Watling Street to Ainsworth Road Bury, along Newbold and Harvey Street along the Whitehead Park, then across Walshaw Road onto a short path through to Brandlesholme Road, then back up the lines to the start point. *There are slopes and hills, to be taken at your own pace, walk if you need to. *You will need a spare inner tube, pump to suit and clothing to take account of possible weather changes.
