This is a very easy-going paced ride just under 9 miles in total.
This is a Mellow Yellows level ride - Novice riders 5 -10 miles 7 - 8mph on mostly traffic free routes.
We meet outside the Beach Café on Ferry Road, on the Shoreham ‘island’. We will join the National Cycle Network Route 2, which is a long-distance cycle route which, when complete, will link Dover in Kent with St. Austell in Cornwall via the south coast of England. Our ride is very nearly all traffic free.
We will be able to admire the fabulous beaches of Shoreham, Lancing and Worthing on one side and the South Downs in the horizon on the other. We pass the fantastic Widewater Lagoon in Lancing and lovely beach houses. The lagoon is a resting place for a variety of birds including herons, swans, and other wildfowl.
The route is very flat at either end.
Please give your bike a check over before you leave home. Check that the tyres are pumped up. Are the gears and brakes working properly? Always carry a spare inner tube that fits your tyres, a puncture repair kit, and a pump, just in case. Bring a drink for the ride and some snacks to keep you going.
Please come prepared for the weather forecast on the day, wearing a helmet is strongly advised. Bring money for the refreshment stop and layers of clothes to deal with changing conditions and getting cold when we stop.
We never leave anyone behind!
