We'll start at Humberston Church/ Gingerbread House Car Park - where you'll be able to leave your car if you're driving to the start point . We'll be setting off towards Tetney and turning off towards the Wolds through Grainsby. We'll cross the A16 and then wend our way into the Wolds via our first climb. Climbs in the Wolds are generally not too steep so they give you some good practice at some hill climbs without them being too scary!! We'll work our way through to Kelstern , and then climb again - a shorter one this time - to the A157. A very short spell on this main road and then we'll be on the lovely Bluestone Heath Road - it's up and down a bit - but no true climbing . This is one of my favourite roads - the views are lovely . We'll then drop into Donington on Bain for some refreshments .We'll come back via Ludford and Binbrook Note that our refreshment stop is at around 20 miles so having a drink and something to eat on the way is important so make sure you bring a cereal bar/ malt loaf/ banana or whatever you like to eat on a ride .
It's a good idea to pump your tyres up the night before riding so that you can see if you have a slow puncture . Make sure your Di2 or other electronic gearing system is well charged up, and if you have an e bike that it's well charged up for those hills !!
I'm anticipating that the average speed for this ride will be around 12-14mph .
I have graded this ride as challenging because of the hills - but it'll be at a steady pace like my other rides . You will be able to go up the hills at your own pace - with a regroup and a breather at the top - so don't worry about having to keep up if you feel a little unconfident on hills .
This is gritting season - be prepared that we may have to possibly divert around any possible gritting works . I've recced the route recently but it's possible that something will have sprung up overnight !!
A ride to Donington on Bain Post and Pantry taking in a couple of hills on the way
A road bike or hybrid with slick tyres would be suitable for this route through mainly quiet lanes in the Lincolnshire Wolds
We'll stop for refreshments at the Post and Pantry in Donington on Bain
Helmets are advisable . Please bring a drink and a snack
New riders to Breeze are welcome. We don't leave anyone behind
