This is a ONE WAY ride to admire the magnificent spectacle of the Brockham Bonfire, which is partially built in the photo above.

The ride will start outside The Bakery, just around the corner from Carshalton Beeches Station, and will end at Dorking Station where we will catch a train back towards Sutton/Carshalton. A standard fare Dorking to Carshalton costs £8.50 (£5.65 if you have a railcard), or £4.40 (£2.90 with railcard).to Epsom, where you could hop off and tap your Oyster card which may make it cheaper. Trains depart every 30 minutes.

If coming to the start by car, please be aware that there are Controlled Parking Zones around Carshalton Beeches Station, so I would advise parking a little further away in Salisbury Road.

The route will take us through Oaks Park, Woodmansterne, Banstead, past Epsom Downs racecourse, Chalk Lane, Ashtead, Leatherhead and along the A24 cyclepath past Denbies, Pixham and on to the pretty village of Brockham. We will use quiet roads, cyclepaths and shared pavements wherever possible to avoid the worst of the traffic.

There are a couple of uphill climbs towards Banstead and Ashtead which should be achievable for most - after that the route is fairly flat.

The plan is for a cafe stop at the Reading Room in Brockham, before heading a couple of miles back towards Dorking Station.

The route is good for most bikes, there are a couple of miles of hard packed gravel, so may be less suitable for some road bikes with very skinny tyres. We can do alternatives by road if it is very wet.

Please ensure that your bike is in good working order and remember to bring your helmet and a spare inner tube, tyre levers and pump too. You may also wish to bring a drink, snack, money/card, and a lock.
