A circular route along mainly U and B class roads. The vast majority of this route is unlit and bright lights are essential. The terrain has some hilly sections and a few steepish descents. The roads are all tarmac and in reasonably good condition with a few gravelly sections and potholes here and there. We will cycle anti clockwise stopping at Tullibole Castle for the light trail event.

This is a night ride to the Tullibole Light Trail near Crook of Devon. You will need to purchase a ticket to view the trail. Tickets are £20 each. You need to purchase your own ticket online at https://www.tickettailor.com/events/tullibolecastle/

We will be cycling on dark, unlit, country back roads and B roads.

Due to the time of year and the temperature being potentially quite low, the aim is to minimise stops along the way and keep the ride flowing (and riders warm), but we will stop as needed for riders to have their own drinks and snacks. There is food and drink for sale at the venue.

Helmets are essential for night riding. Eye protection and warm gloves and socks recommended. Please wear layers of clothes for warmth and bring a waterproof jacket. If you prefer to ride in cleats you will need to bring outdoor shoes to change into at Tullibole. Your bike should be well maintained, and you will need an inner tube and a means of inflating your tyres if your tyres don’t have presta valves as well as any tools specific to your bike. Bright, fully charged bike lights are essential. You can not participate without those. If you have a head torch please bring it. Hi viz clothing is recommended. You should bring any drinks and snacks you need. You must bring your event ticket. You will need some cash for the food and drinks at the venue.

Whilst our policy is never to leave anyone behind, this ride is probably not suitable for beginner cyclists and those not confident riding in the darkness. Please be sensible and consider your personal abilities before booking a place both for your own safety, and the safety of the group.
