Starting at Cwmbran Stadium we will go on an adventure to Brynmawr and over the top of the mountain dropping down to Garn Lakes and back on the usual Blaenavon route. The route is a bit lumpy out from Pontypool to Swffyrd and then we head downhill to Llanhilleth and to the cycle route along the river to the Guardian statue. You've all done this route before and we dread the climb back in Llanhilleth but the good news is we're not doing that this time. We'll continue on up to Abertillery , Blaina then Brynmawr following the cycle route which is a very slight incline. We'll stop at Brynmawr and then head over the mountain toward Blaenavon ironworks and Garn lakes and then whizz all the way back downhill to Cwmbran.

A loop ride taking in the Guardian at Six Bells, Brynmawr , the mountain top and back via Garn Lake

All cycle routes or quiet roads. Some traffic on the route on the old Hafodyrynys through Llanhilleth but all other parts of the ride are on Sustrans cycle routes.

We will stop briefly to admire the Guardian statue then heading up past Tesco Abertillery where you can purchase snacks or wait until Brynmawr where there are shops and a Greggs

Bring your helmets, some cash for lunch, snacks and a drink and of course a spare inner tune.

We especially welcome newbies!
