Great for more experienced riders, our Challenging rides allow you to cover a good distance and conquer some hills in the comfort of a group.

Starting from the Burnside Hotel we will climb through quiet A roads up through Castlemilk, cross Cathkin Braes Park into Carmunnock. From there we will head to Newton Mearns via quiet country roads to Thorntonhall and Waterfoot. We will continue to climb up Mearns Road to the A77 segregated cycle lane and take that for around 10 miles to Fenwick. After a cafe stop at Logan's Larder cafe (around half way), we will loop back on the A77 but head through Giffnock, Newlands and Cathcart heading back to Burnside via Menock Road.

Whether you’re in training for a cycling challenge or just want to take your riding up a notch, our Challenging rides are a great place to start. Distance: 20+ miles. Speed: 12-14 mph.
