An easygoing and relaxed ride along the Grand Union Canal, cutting through Horsenden Hill (but avoiding the big hill!), Sudbury and Wembley using mainly quiet roads. We have a couple of busy junctions to turn into/from, which we will do safely as a group, but apart from that this route is quiet and ideal to those lacking confidence in traffic.
A third of this ride is through the Grand Union Canal between Harlesden and Greenford, where we come off and cut through Horsenden Hill Open Space. Skinny tyres will struggle in these gravelly terrains so this is not suitable for a road bike.
We take on quiet roads of Sudbury and Wembley (they are few and far between but still exist!), and stop for a coffee (or should I say tea?) at Chai & Spice, at Trader Wembley, in Ealing Road on our way back. We return to Roundwood Park cycling in front of the Neasden Temple. We aim to be back at around 1.30pm.
If you find this ride fully booked, join the waiting list as spaces always become available nearer the date. However, please do not sign up if you’re not sure you can come.
IMPORTANT POINTS: *Helmets aren't compulsory but advisable. *Check that your tyres are pumped and bring a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. *If you have Covid-19 or have been told to self-isolate, or can't make it for any other reason, please cancel your space so someone else can join. *Only riders who booked themselves on the ride will be allowed to join. *Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains. Dress for the weather and bring a rain coat just in case.
