There is free parking on the service road or pay and display in front of visitors centre From 1st April 2024, charges will be £1.20 for up to two hours, and £3.50 all day..

This is a novices ride for those who are new to off road riding or looking to build their confidence. The ride is lead by a British Cycling mountain bike leaders and BC fundamentals MTB leader. We will start at Marquis Drive visitors centre and then take a green trail to Birches a valley before joining the blue Perrys trail and then returning to Marquis Drive. The ride will be slow paced with time to stop and catch your breath and you will be offered plenty of support and encouragement. We will stop for a coffee either part way through or at the end of the ride.
This is a traffic free, off road ride on bridle pathways, fire roads and easy mountain bike trails designed for beginners. The surface will be gravelly and the bridleways and fire roads are share with walkers and horse riders. There is an undulating section of the MTB trail and an incline back to Marquis Drive but we will take it at a slow pace.
We will stop for a breather when needed and grab a coffee and cake during the ride
A bike in good working condition, helmet, spare inner tube which fits your bike and a bike pump. Money for refreshments.
