We start at Pedal Power and go along the Taff Trail to Llandaff Bridge. Wind our way through Danescourt and Pentrebane towards the quiet lanes of the Glamorgan Vale.
In the Vale, we’ll do a circular route taking in Brides Super Ely, Peterston Super Ely, Gwern Steeple, Hensol Forest and Tre-Dodridge. When we get back to Peterston Super Ely, we will stop at the Sportsman pub for some refreshments - they do baked potatoes and sandwiches. We return via St Fagans and the Ely Trail back to Pontcanna and Pedal Power.
There are some hills on this ride, so I would describe it as a challenging 25 miles.
Here is the route on Google maps:

This is an undulating ride from Cardiff around the Eastern part of the Glamorgan Vale, with views of pretty villages.

There is a mixture of traffic free Taff/Ely Trail, suburban roads and country lanes. The Ely Trail can be a bit muddy in places, but do-able on a road bike. This ride would be suitable for Hybrid (road tyre) and Road bikes.

We have lots of stops along the way to catch our breath, especially at the top of the hills! Our main stop will be in Peterston Super Ely at the Sportsman Pub. Here you can have an open baguette with chips, or a filled jacket potato for £6 or a cooked meal for £6.95.

Please wear a helmet and bring a snack, as the Sportsman Pub in Peterston is closer to 3/4 way round the route, rather than half-way. Although, never fear, I will be bringing cake!

If you are new to cycling, this would be described as a challenging ride, not because of the distance, but because there is 1 long hill, but it isn't too steep and we always wait up the top and have cake!!
