Come and join us on a traffic-free ride along Sankey Valley Park to Carr Mill Dam and back. This is a great relaxing route on cycle paths beside the Sankey watercourses, taking approximately 3.5 hours including café stop. The route is marked steady as it is relatively flat and at a steady pace, but does cover 18 miles.

We start at the Sankey Valley car park, just off Cromwell Avenue, heading up along the cycle path beside the Sankey Canal. There’s often plenty of wildlife to keep an eye out for as we follow this corridor of green through Warrington. Leaving Warrington, we pass beneath the M62 and continue along the cycle path passing fields of horses and the occasional Virgin Pendolino train up towards Newton-le-Willows.

Beyond Newton-le-Willows, we pass beneath the Sankey Viaduct and continue on trails beside Sankey Brook towards St Helens, completing a short climb up to the top of Carr Mill Dam. Continuing along the dam, we will then make a stop at The Boat House café beside the reservoir for drinks and snacks.

After refuelling, we retrace our route back to Warrington and to where we started.
