This ride can be part of Ride & Stride, a sponsored bike ride or walk between churches to raise funds for the repair and restoration of historic church buildings
https://hihct.org.uk/ride-and-stride/.
This is the perfect ride for you if you are new to cycling or have not been cycling for a while. Our pace will be slow and steady to allow everyone to get to know each other and gain confidence cycling within the group. We’ll always ride at the pace of the slowest rider, so no-one is left behind.
We will start outside Winchester Cathedral cycling along College Street, then along the cycle path to Hockley Viaduct and onto Compton. Our first hill up to the bridge over the motorway is followed by a lovely downhill stretch through Shawford and Twyford on quiet country lanes. We go up our last hill before a short section on the main road then back along the cycle path towards St Cross. We will stop at St Cross Hospital for refreshments before returning along the quiet historic back streets of Winchester to our start.
Please check your bike is in good working order and conduct a pre-ride safety check on your bike
